Three years ago I was researching cars. As a single mom, I wanted something really safe and reliable — and I also knew if I bought something that could stand the test of time, I could give it to my daughter in a few years. I found a 2005 C230 online, drove to Gainesville, took it for a test drive and bought it on the spot. My daughter loved the car too, naming it “Pretty, Pretty Princess.” We drove her for a year and a half before she was put to the ultimate safety test.
I was driving to work one clear morning and, while stopped at a red light, I was t-boned in the driver’s door by a Mack truck. My window shattered, sending glass everywhere, and the car was pushed sideways into the 4-lane lane intersection. My door began to buckle and I managed to crawl out of the passenger window as the truck continued to push the car. Once I was out of harm’s way, I thanked God for saving my life. And when the time came to buy another car, we bought another Mercedes. By the way, “Pretty, Pretty Princess” survived the crash and we still have her.
