As a police officer for a large department in Orange County, CA, I have spent the last nine years working accident investigation and vehicle enforcement. I have seen time after time that, in almost every traffic collision involving a Mercedes-Benz, the driver and passengers in the Mercedes fared much better than the people in the other car. Prior to this, I had always thought that all vehicles were the same — except that some had features that were more like “gimmicks” installed to induce consumers to purchase them. I had also thought that a Mercedes was priced out of my reach, and that I could never afford one.

But then I began to think, “Could I ever afford to lose a loved one to a traffic collision because the vehicle they were riding in was not equipped with the latest structural design and safety features that Mercedes puts into its vehicles?” My wife has driven a Mercedes ever since, and I will insist that she do so until we no longer drive.
