Rocketing from 0 to 60 in a mere 3.5 seconds†, the SLS AMG Black Series is powered by a specially enhanced version of the hand-built AMG 6.3-liter V-8 engine aboard the SLS AMG GT Coupe. Enhanced for a maximum output of 622 horsepower and 468 ft-lb of torque, to be precise. Even the engine's redline was increased to an adrenaline-pumping 8000 rpm -- helping to make the SLS AMG Black Series the most powerful gasoline-powered vehicle in the AMG stable.

Nuanced but significant enhancements of its camshafts, valve train, crankshaft, oil pump assemblies, and cooling systems complement a redesigned engine-mounting system. Aerodynamically, enlarged air intakes with installed carbon-fiber flics improve downforce as well as create a deeper-breathing, more guttural engine snarl. In turn, a new titanium AMG sports exhaust system not only creates a 28.7-pound weight savings over its steel predecessor, but also moves even more air through the engine, thanks to fan-type exhaust manifolds. All in all, it's the sum of numerous small modifications that take the power curve of the SLS AMG Black Series to heart-pounding heights.

Further contributing to responsiveness are weight-saving measures that bring in the SLS AMG Black Series at just 3,417 pounds -- a staggering 157 pounds lighter than the remarkably lightweight SLS AMG. Aesthetically, the balanced lines of the SLS AMG Black Series create a bold, head-turning profile that makes its competitive nature immediately apparent. Its taut and lightweight chassis seamlessly transitions to an exterior aerodynamic in both lustrous form and sleek function. Flared Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic front fenders combined with tinted headlamps accentuate the vehicle's carbon-fiber hood, designed with a central air outlet that helps engine heat escape and increases downforce on the front axle. Making a strong final impression are tail lamps with black surrounds which are underscored by a massive rear diffuser that provides additional downforce while framing the signature AMG quad chrome tailpipes.

Complementing the immense power of the SLS Black Series is a refined cockpit that adds panache to every jaunt and joyride. Red contrast stitching provides an eye-catching accent to distinguished leather designo seams, while carbon fiber envelops the interior's signature center console. Further high notes include those emanating from an optional, custom audio package: no less than 1000 watts and 11 Bang & Olufsen BeoSound surround-sound speakers precisely tuned to orchestrate your every asphalt conquest.
