    Connectivity, unleashed

User-friendly innovation puts abundant technology within reach. With a multifunction steering wheel and convenient central controller, the COMAND system puts audio, vehicle settings and the optional hard-drive navigation and in-car Internet apps of mbrace2 at your fingertips, or even your voice. Standard Bluetooth® lets you enjoy hands-free calling and wireless streaming of your digital audio player.  (Disclaimer)

While the navigation system provides directional assistance, the driver must remain focused on safe driving behavior, including paying attention to traffic and street signs. The driver should utilize the system's audio cues while driving and should only consult the map or visual displays once the vehicle has been stopped in a safe place. Maps do not cover all areas or all routes within an area.

Bluetooth® interface does not provide phone charging or external antenna. Voice interactivity feature is dependent on selected handset. Phone sold separately. See dealer for a list of approved compatible phones. Bluetooth is a registered trademark of Bluetooth SIG, Inc.

    Protective, for peace of mind

The E-Class Cabriolets are a protective showcase of Mercedes-Benz safety firsts. Among its exclusive innovations, PRE-SAFE® can detect conditions that suggest a collision or rollover is imminent, then adjust the front seat belts, front passenger seat and front windows, all to better prepare the occupants in the moments before a collision.  (Disclaimer)

PRE-SAFE® closes the front side windows and sunroof when the system's sensors detect side movement that suggests a possible rollover.

    Prepared, for the unexpected

Integrated with the rear-seat head restraints of the E-Class Cabriolets are a pair of high-strength steel roll bars, an innovation first introduced by Mercedes-Benz in 1989. If sensors detect that a rollover is imminent, the roll bars automatically deploy upward in 0.3 seconds, to help preserve the occupant space. They can also be raised electrically by the driver or rear-seat passengers.  (Disclaimer)

The roll bar system is designed to enhance the level of rollover protection compared to a vehicle without one. No system, regardless of how advanced, can eliminate the chance of injury in an accident. Please always wear your seat belt.

Dynamic Handling suspension

Dynamic Handling suspension
Engineered to meet the requirements of even more demanding drivers, the Dynamic Handling suspension alters the damping rates, accelerator response and shift points, all at the touch of a single button. The electronically controlled shock absorbers independently adjust for each wheel based on the current driving situation. A choice of Comfort and Sport settings lets you match the car's driving character to your mood.

Direct Injection

In our newest generation of gasoline engines numerous advances team up to deliver more torque over a wider range of rpm. Rapid-multispark ignition fires up to four times per millisecond, while advanced high-pressure Direct Injection microscopically tunes the fuel spray, reducing emissions, fuel consumption and noise. A lightweight diecast-alloy block, quicker and more widely variable valve timing, reduced friction, and clever "on-demand" ancillary components like the alternator further boost efficiency.

AMG twin 5-spoke wheels

Five pairs of thin spokes call attention to the light weight and rigidity of these race-bred wheels, as well as the impressive brake hardware. Staggered in width, the rear wheels and tires are wider than the fronts, for greater acceleration grip without sacrificing crisp steering feedback.

All-season sound-dampening soft top

2012-E-Class-E350-E550-Cabriolet-009_MT.jpg
With its three layers totalling nearly an inch of thickness, the E-Class Cabriolet soft top is meticulously crafted for long-lasting beauty and a remarkably quiet cabin. At the touch of a button, it disappears from sight but leaves more usable trunk and cabin space than competitors' folding hardtops.

AGILITY CONTROL

Dynamic Handling suspension
Engineered specifically for performance driving, AGILITY CONTROL automatically adjusts the individual shock absorbers based on the road surface and the driver's current driving style. Valving inside each shock absorber automatically firms up during stronger body motions for sharper handling feedback and stability, and reduces the damping rates during gentler motions for a smoother, more composed ride.

AIRCAP

AIRCAP is an automatic virtual wind blocker, utilizing a speed-sensitive airfoil that rises from the windshield header and an automatically height-adjusting see-through mesh screen between the rear head restraints. AIRCAP helps keep top-down driving quiet and draft-free even at highway speeds. And unlike conventional wind deflectors, the rear seats remain fully usable.

Bluetooth

Place and answer calls, and even access select phonebooks without taking your hands off the steering wheel with Bluetooth connectivity. Pairing your Bluetooth-compatible phone with the vehicle is simpler than ever. Then, just leave your phone in your pocket and enjoy hands-free conversations over the audio system. Bluetooth audio streaming makes it even easier to enjoy your digital music player, allowing you to connect your Bluetooth-equipped iPod® or other MP3 player wirelessly to your vehicle's audio system for convenient, cable-free playback.

LED Daytime Running Lamps

Bright white LED Daytime Running Lamps help increase the visibility of your vehicle to oncoming traffic whenever the car is switched on. They also add a distinctive high-tech styling touch.

7-speed automatic transmission

A wide range of closely spaced gear ratios delivers the ideal response for virtually every driving situation, for smooth cruising, quick acceleration, and thanks to two overdrive ratios, better highway fuel efficiency. Adaptive logic monitors your driving style and adjusts its shift points to match, while Touch Shift control and standard paddle shifters offer manual-style shifting enjoyment anytime you want it.

AIRSCARF

Tilt-adjustable vents beneath each front head restraint deliver warmed airflow to your neck, head and shoulders, like a virtual scarf. With individual 3-stage temperature controls and airflow that's automatically adjusted to your driving speed, AIRSCARF means you don't have to put the top up just because the sun, or thermometer, has gone down.

4.6L twin-turbo V-8

4.6L twin-turbo V-8 engine
A new 402-hp 4.6-liter V-8 combines numerous advances and twin turbos to deliver noticeably more low-end torque. New rapid-multispark ignition can fire up to four times per millisecond, while high-pressure Direct Injection microscopically tunes the fuel spray to reduce emissions, fuel consumption and noise. A lightweight diecast-alloy block, quicker and more widely variable valve timing, reduced friction, and clever "on-demand" ancillary components like the alternator further boost efficiency.

lowered sport suspension

Firmer coil springs and shock absorbers, as well as a lowered ride height, offer sharper handling response and a more aggressive stance.

3-spoke steering wheel.

3-spoke multifunction steering wheel
For fingertip access to some of the vehicle functions you use most often, convenient buttons on the steering wheel let you control the audio volume and selection, send and end calls on your Bluetooth-enabled phone, and scroll through the features of the multifunction display in the instrument cluster. For maximum driving pleasure, the steering wheel features a grippy Premium leather-wrapped rim with raised thumbgrips at the ideal "10 and 2 o'clock" positions.

multicontour front seats

Triple lumbar supports, plus adjustable side bolsters and shoulder supports, allow you to custom-tailor your seat to fit your physique.

hard-drive navigation

Using GPS technology and an 80GB hard drive to store maps, points of interest, and Zagat® Survey ratings for restaurants, hotels and golf courses, this virtual copilot provides detailed driving directions with remarkable speed and a friendly voice. The COMAND system's 7-inch color-LCD screen can also display gas stations, ATMs and Mercedes-Benz dealerships along your route.

leather

Supple, richly grained double-stitched leather is hand-fitted to the seating surfaces and head restraints. Super-smooth, supple Premium leather is an optional upgrade.

LED taillamps

Not only brighter than traditional bulbs, LED technology also delivers quicker illumination of the brake lamps, offering drivers behind you more time to react.
