  Lift off the accelerator quickly and Predictive Brake Priming sets the pads closer to the discs, for more immediate response when you hit the brakes. In the rain, Automatic Brake Drying gently applies the brakes periodically, to sweep away water build-up. During uphill starts, Hill-Start Assist helps prevent unwanted rollback. And a HOLD feature can make stop-and-go traffic a little easier.[*4]

Sport steering wheel

Part of the E550 Appearance Package, the sport steering wheel features pronounced contours, thick padding and a Premium leather-wrapped rim with perforated side grips, putting the delights of precise handling literally in the driver's hands. Convenient multifunction controls do likewise while operating the most frequently needed vehicle functions. Raised thumbrests are placed at the ideal "10 and 2 o'clock" positions, while the racing-inspired flat-bottom design facilitates ingress and egress.

Leather upholstery

Supple, richly grained double-stitched leather is hand-fitted to all seating surfaces, even the head restraints and seatback map pockets, as well as the door trim inserts and front center armrest.

DVD/CD player

The in-dash player lets you enjoy audio CDs and DVDs. You can even watch a DVD movie while the vehicle is in Park.

Music Register - P1 Package

Music Register allows you to store up to 10GB of your own digital music on the in-dash hard drive. It lets you copy songs from your CDs, DVDs and certain memory devices and save them to your vehicle's audio system, so you can listen to them anytime and anywhere you drive.

Blind Spot Assist

When the vehicle is traveling above approximately 20 mph, this system uses radar technology to sense when a vehicle enters the blind-spot area. Blind Spot Assist then automatically alerts the driver via an illuminated red icon in the appropriate side mirror. The system also gives an audible warning if the driver activates a turn signal while a vehicle is detected in the blind spot.

AGILITY CONTROL suspension

Engineered specifically for performance driving, AGILITY CONTROL automatically adjusts the individual shock absorbers based on the road surface and the driver's current driving style. DISTRONIC PLUS - Driver Assistance Package

This advanced, radar-based cruise control monitors the vehicle ahead and adjusts your speed to help maintain a chosen following distance. It can even bring the car to a halt if it senses stopped traffic, then resume automatically. Should the car ahead slow or stop suddenly, the PRE-SAFE Brake system can automatically engage up to 40% of available braking power and issue an audiovisual alarm. 4-ETS can help get you going even if three wheels lose their grip. Sensors at each wheel monitor traction based on wheel speeds. If one or more wheels start to slip, 4-ETS individually brakes the slipping wheels to maintain the flow of torque to the wheels with grip. Body structure

The E-Class Coupe is elaborately engineered to provide the strength and crashworthiness expected of a Mercedes-Benz, even without central roof pillars. High-strength/low-alloy (HSLA) steel provides greater resistance to bending and flexing than conventional steel of similar weight. HSLA and ultra-high-strength steel are used in critical areas of the body structure, such as the front and rear roof pillars, floor and roof crossmembers, door beams and various reinforcements throughout the body.
