A Mercedes-AMG engine only starts with the state of the art. From there, everything from fuel pressure to exhaust routing is developed to quicken, heighten and intensify its response, and yours. Developed for AMG's racecars, patented NANOSLIDE® cylinder walls cut friction, raising endurance and power.
Racing bloodline, rarified air.
Distilling GT3 racing technology to road-ready form, the AMG GT R is the most fortified, formidable roadster in the AMG family. Strategically lightened and strengthened, its active aero and numerous performance innovations create a roadster that's limited in production but unleashed in every other way.
Maxed-out maximum: nearly 20 lbs of boost
Bigger turbos, nested between the cylinder banks, force-feed 19.6 psi of max boost to reshaped cylinders and heads. From remapped engine management to a lightened flywheel, each of its 577 hp carries less than 6.5 lbs of the car it can rocket to 60 in 3.5 seconds. Disclaimer
Massive torque, less mass
The front-mid-engine/rear-transaxle layout delivers an ideal 47.3:52.7 front/rear weight balance. Transmitting massive power between them, a carbon fiber torque tube is more rigid yet some 20 lbs lighter. The carbon fiber front fenders and underbody panels further slash weight.
Proven in the heat of battle
AMG brakes start at superlative for superior stopping power. Perforated and slotted composite discs feature yellow 6-piston front calipers. The ultimate option for the GT R are Ceramic Composite brakes, developed for Formula 1® and proven on its Safety Car.
Adjustable coil-over springs team with the 3-stage adaptive damping of AMG RIDE CONTROL and active rear-wheel steering for confident control on road or track. Five AMG DYNAMIC SELECT drive modes let you dial in shifting, damping, exhaust sound and more.
Power at your feet, and in your hands
Fully clad in grippy DINAMICA microsuede, the AMG Performance steering wheel transfers the GT R's grip to your hands. The AMG DRIVE UNIT places key performance settings on the wheel, with intuitive touch controls integrating color displays of their status.
9-mode traction control, because traction is control
Even in the most capable track car, the driver runs the show. AMG Traction Control lets you dial in its threshold of intervention via the AMG DRIVE UNIT. Nine settings range from wet-road grip to driftable slip, so you can power out of turns with gusto. Disclaimer

Exclusive Nappa leather and genuine carbon fiber team with vivid digital instruments and displays. Controls on the V-shaped console and steering wheel add to the car-driver bond. Concealed underneath, lightened mass and heightened rigidity bring it all to life with highly precise driving dynamics.
Aerodynamically active, to harness the forces of nature
Wind-tunnel tuning turns airflow into alliances. Active lower grille louvers can cool the running gear or cut drag. Active carbon fiber underbody fairings draw car to road at speed. Wider rear fenders culminate in a large fixed wing and a double diffuser that helps draw off the heat of the active exhaust.
Forged wheels: AMG precision in its most genuine form
AMG® alloy wheels have long been icons of precision and panache. The pinnacle of these are forged for high strength with minimal weight, with the bonus of ultrathin spokes that showcase the AMG brakes.
