The 241-hp 2.0L inline-4turbo engine in the C300 combines numerous advances to deliver more power from less fuel. Its rapid-multispark ignition and high-pressure Direct Injection can fine-tune themselves in milliseconds. Its turbocharger spools up quickly to boost response, helping deliver all of the engine's 273 lb-ft of torque at just 1,300 rpm. Widely variable timing of all 16 valves and innovative 3-phase cooling team up to reduce emissions while raising your emotions.
An ECO Start/Stop system automatically shuts off the engine at stoplights and other idle situations, to save fuel and reduce emissions. As soon as the driver lifts off the brake, the engine instantly restarts, for immediate acceleration response. The ECO Start/Stop system can also be shut off by the driver at any time.
In any season, on any road, 4MATIC® all-wheel drive adds to your confidence and control. Always engaged and optimizing torque to every wheel, 4MATIC integrates with ESP®, our standard Electronic Stability Program, for maximum effectiveness in corners and slippery conditions. It also incorporates our 4-wheel Electronic Traction System (4-ETS®), which monitors for the first sign of wheel slip and responds to ensure torque is sent to the wheels with the best grip, even if that's only one wheel. Disclaimer
Smooth, responsive and efficient, the 7G-TRONIC 7-speed automatic offers the ideal response in virtually every driving situation, from relaxed cruising to quick acceleration. Two overdrive ratios enhance highway fuel-efficiency. An electronic selector and shift paddles on the steering wheel let you control all gear changes with your hands on the wheel. Adaptive logic paces automatic shifting to match your driving style. And the shift paddles let you enjoy manual control anytime.
A multimode drive program selector on the console lets you transform the car's character with the flip of a switch. Four modes (ECO, Comfort, Sport and Sport+) alter the throttle response, shift points and steering effort, ECO Start/Stop, and available AIRMATIC® suspension. A fifth "Individual" mode allows you to create a mode of your own, even letting you set the transmission for purely manual shifting.
The 4-wheel independent suspension features a redesigned 4-link front axle with lightweight aluminum components, and further evolution of the standard-setting 5-arm multilink rear design.
Engineered specifically for performance driving, Agility Controlautomatically adjusts the individual shock absorbers based on the road surface and the driver's current driving style. Valving inside each shock absorber automatically firms up during stronger body motions for sharper handling feedback and stability, and reduces the damping rates during gentler motions for a smoother, more composed ride.
Special calibration of the spring and damping rates places a stronger emphasis on luxury, without sacrificing reassuring control and rewarding feedback. The comfort-tuned setup takes particular advantage of the long wheelbase and high rigidity of the C-Class, elevating its supple smoothness to a pinnacle of poise.
Standard Torque Vectoring Brake technology provides additional control and precision in turns via targeted rear-wheel braking. If the vehicle's Electronic Stability Program (ESP®) detects understeer while cornering, the system applies the brake to the inside rear wheel, temporarily shifting torque distribution in favor of the outside wheel. This causes the vehicle to gently pivot in compensation, putting it on a line of travel, or vector, better suited to the turn.
The sleek, sporty and spacious design of the C-Class Sedan captivates the eye and delights the senses. Its long wheelbase enhances handling, ride comfort and cabin room, while the extensive use of aluminum makes the body a lightweight on the scales, but a heavyweight in strength. The sculpted, long-hood/short-deck design is at once elegant and athletic, a look that comes to life on any road.
Bold and muscular yet flowing, the standard sport lower bodywork looks as if was sculpted as much in the gym as in the wind tunnel. Large mesh air intakes underscore the wide, slatted grille with its integrated Star. Chrome details add subtle highlights to the sporty shape.
In form, feel, flow and function, the cabin of the C-Class Sedan sets a standard for style and craftsmanship, even among luxury sedans costing far more. A sweeping console defines the cockpit, with driver-focused controls, rich finishes and a sensousness that continues throughout the cabin. Modern color and trim options, elegant aluminized finishes, and intuitive technologies create an environment that puts every element of driving enjoyment in harmony with you.
Crisp, bold and sporty 17-inch alloy wheels feature five sets of thin spokes with a shimmering machined finish and grey-painted inlays. They're outfitted with all-season Extended Mobility tires.
With a Nappa leather-wrapped rim and perforated side grips, the 3-spoke steering wheel puts the delights of precise handling literally in your hands. For fingertip access to some of the vehicle functions you use most often, convenient buttons adjust the audio, access your Bluetooth® phone and activate the available voice control. You can also scroll through the features of the illustrated multifunction display in the instrument cluster, with a "home" button further enhancing its convenience.
Warm yet modern Brown Ash wood adorns the console and doors in a low-sheen finish that brings out its natural grain and texture. Sleek aluminum trim sweeps across the dash, complementing the aircraft-style air vents. An analog clock is a distinctive and useful detail in the console.
Radar-based technology alerts you if you're approaching a vehicle ahead, or even some stationary objects, at a speed and distance that suggest a collision is likely. As soon as the driver starts to brake, its Adaptive Brake Assist automatically provides the ideal level of braking, to help prevent a collision or reduce its severity. The system can also initiate autonomous braking from speeds up to 65 mph, and can activate the features of PRE-SAFE®. Disclaimer
The first system of its kind, ATTENTION ASSIST® continuously monitors up to 70 parameters of driving behavior, and can automatically alert the driver with both visual and audible warnings if it detects signs of drowsiness on long trips. With enhanced sensitivity, the system can also help detect drivers who begin their trip drowsy, and offer more useful information to drivers along their journey via a new dashboard display. Disclaimer
Bright white LED Daytime Running Lamps help get the C-Class noticed, for added safety and in modern style.
Interpreting information that is continually supplied by the car's Electronic Stability Program (ESP®), electric power steering and suspension sensors, Crosswind Assist help detect the effects of strong side winds on the vehicle's handling stability at highway speeds. Whether caused by lateral gusts or even a passing truck, the system helps keep the car on course via strategic braking of the wheels on one side of the vehicle. Disclaimer
This innovative driver-assistance feature helps you to see directly behind your vehicle when backing up. Shift into Reverse, and a wide-angle camera mounted near the rear license plate displays a live view of what's behind the vehicle on the cockpit's large central color screen. Disclaimer
A Mercedes-Benz first, PRE-SAFE® can detect instability during certain vehicle maneuvers that suggest a collision or rollover is imminent. It can then tighten the front seat belts, adjust the front passenger seat, and close the windows and sunroof, all in an effort to better prepare the occupants and restraints in the moments before a collision. If no accident occurs, the seat-belt tensioners reverse, and you simply readjust your seat, open the sunroof and continue on your way. Disclaimer
Arguably our most important passive safety feature, all four outboard 3-point seat belts are equipped with Emergency Tensioning Devices (ETDs) and belt force limiters. If a collision exceeds a preset threshold, ETDs instantly remove slack from the seat belts. Belt force limiters allow a slight amount of give in the seat belts, to reduce the peak seat-belt forces on the occupant.
An advanced system of 9 air bags offers 11-way occupant protection. Dual two-stage front air bags, combined thorax/pelvic bags for driver and front passenger, a driver's knee air bag, and side curtain air bags for both seating rows are standard. Side-impact air bags are also standard for each outboard rear seating position.
Adaptive braking technology integrates a suite of advances. If you lift off the accelerator quickly, Predictive Brake Priming sets the pads closer to the discs for more immediate response when you apply the brakes. In the rain, Automatic Brake Drying periodically applies the brakes just enough to sweep water build-up from the discs. During uphill starts, Hill-Start Assist helps prevent unwanted rollback. And a HOLD feature can make long red lights or stopped traffic a little easier. Disclaimer
The Antilock Braking System (ABS) senses impending wheel lockup under heavy braking, and pumps the front brakes individually or the rear brakes together up to 30 times per second. By preventing wheel lockup, ABS helps preserve the driver's steering ability during hard braking. Disclaimer
Brake Assist senses emergency braking via the speed at which the driver presses the brake pedal and immediately applies maximum available power boost. Brake Assist can potentially reduce the overall stopping distance by eliminating the delay caused by a common human tendency not to brake hard enough, soon enough. Letting up on the brake pedal releases Brake Assist. Disclaimer
This safety breakthrough first introduced by Mercedes-Benz continually monitors your driving inputs and the vehicle's motion to help keep it going in your intended direction, especially in corners and during evasive maneuvers. If it detects wheelspin, severe understeer (plowing), or oversteer (fishtailing), ESP® can brake individual wheels and reduce engine power to help bring the vehicle under control. Disclaimer
Greater use of aluminum helps the body shell of the C-Class elevate its overall rigidity, occupant protection and acousting qualities while reducing weight, even with a significant increase in cabin space. Along with high-strength and ultrahigh-strength steel, the front fenders, hood, doors, trunklid and roof panel are made of aluminum. Strategic reinforcements are made of diecast, extruded and stamped aluminum, as well as heat-treated steel and laser-welded, varying-thickness steel.
The Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) can automatically detect a substantial loss of tire pressure in any wheel and alert the driver via a warning message in the multifunction display. The advanced TPMS can also display the numeric tire pressure for each mounted wheel.
