MERCEDES-BENZ USA RECORDS ALL-TIME BEST AUGUST WITH 28,404 UNITS SOLD
ATLANTA–Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) today reported record Augustsales of28,404 vehicles, increasing 0.1% from the 28,373vehicles sold during the same month last year. Mercedes-Benz Vans also reported best-ever Augustsales with 3,152units, up 39.5% and smart reported 353units, bringing MBUSA grand total to 31,909vehicles for the month, up 2.1% from last year.On a year-to-date basis, Mercedes-Benz retails totaled 219,704. Adding year-to-date-sales of 22,186 for Vans and 3,439 for smart, MBUSA posted a grand total of 245,329 units in August, increasing 0.7% from the previous year.
"We are on track for a strong finish to the third quarter, fueled by a best-ever result for August," said Dietmar Exler, president and CEO of MBUSA. "Demand remains high for our SUVs anddream cars such as the new SLand S-Class Cabriolet, and we expect to build upon this momentum in the coming months."
Mercedes-Benz volume leaders in Augustincluded the C-Class, E-Class(including the CLS) and GLCmodellines. The C-Class took the lead at6,125, followed bythe E-Classat 5,069. TheGLC,roundedout the top three with 4,715units sold.
Mercedes-AMG high-performance modelssold 1,621units in August, up 17.5% from last year (1,380), with a total of 14,131units sold year-to-date (up 69.1%).
Separately, Mercedes-Benz Certified Pre-Owned (MBCPO) modelsrecordedsales of11,773 vehicles in August, an increase of 20.1% from last year (9,804).On a year-to-date basis, MBCPO sold 82,636vehicles, an increase of 5.5%.
