Four permanently synchronous electric motors

Smooth, quiet and rich in torque, the four individual electric motors are integrated into the vehicle's ladder frame near each wheel. As a team, they can distribute up to 579 hp and 859 lb-ft of torque to all four wheels. The "permanently excited synchronous motors" (PSMs) feature permanent magnets to generate AC current with high power density and efficiency. Since their peak torque is available from a standstill, they can provide exceptional power and control even on steep inclines.

G-TURN

A novel yet highly useful benefit of the four individual electric motors is named G-TURN. In simple terms, the electric G can rotate in place on unpaved or loose surfaces. By turning the opposite wheels in opposite directions, the vehicle can make up to two complete turns about its own axis in either direction with just a few driver inputs. The vehicle must be in Low Range and in the Rock mode of DYNAMIC SELECT, and the driver can cancel the turn at any time midway if desired.

Off-road driving should only be attempted by drivers with the necessary skill, experience and understanding of the vehicle's limits. Read Operator's Manual before driving off-road.
G-TURN is an off-road function and must only be performed on loose or low-friction surfaces where space permits for the vehicle to rotate. Driver is responsible for checking surroundings and surface before initiating the maneuver. Please see the Operator's Manual for important warnings and additional information.
Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC

A Mercedes-Benz innovation, Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC® cruise control uses radar-based technology to adapt your set speed in response to the flow of traffic ahead. If traffic slows down, it can reduce your speed automatically until your path clears. If the vehicle ahead slows to a stop, it can brake to a full halt. When traffic moves, you can resume with just a tap of the accelerator or cruise control button, or it can resume automatically if the stop is under 30 seconds.

Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC is not a substitute for active driving involvement. It does not adapt cruising speed in response to stationary objects, nor does it predict the curvature and lane layout of the road ahead or the movement of vehicles ahead. It is the driver's responsibility at all times to be attentive to posted speed limits, traffic and road conditions, and to provide the steering, braking and other driving inputs necessary to retain control of the vehicle. Drivers are cautioned not to wait for the system's alerts before braking, as that may not afford sufficient time and distance to brake safely. Braking effectiveness also depends on proper brake maintenance, and tire and road conditions. See Operator's Manual for system operating speeds and additional information and warnings.
Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX)

A breakthrough in automobile cockpit control, the Mercedes-Benz User Experience integrates digital in-dash displays including a touchscreen, touch-sensitive controls, Bluetooth® hands-free and audio streaming, and an industry-advancing voice control system that responds to your everyday speaking voice and phrasing of commands. You can set up multiple user profiles of favored settings, and groups of settings can be saved as themes or moods.

Requires an active Mercedes me account, available at no charge. See Operator's Manual for additional information.
OFFROAD COCKPIT

An overview of information relevant to off-road driving can be viewed on the dual digital displays, along with buttons in the center of the dash to access specific off-roading features and settings. Information content such as compass, elevation, steering angle, torque output, ambient temperature and tire pressure can be displayed in a variety of tiles, and customized by swiping or using on-screen arrows.

Off-road driving should only be attempted by drivers with the necessary skill, experience and understanding of the vehicle's limits. Read Operator's Manual before driving off-road.
